Interhouse Sport
Students
compete in three annual Interhouse carnivals: Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics. Our Sports Houses are Banks Bulldogs (red),
Cook Crocodiles (green), Macquarie Mustangs (yellow), Phillip Panthers (blue).
Age Champions
(male and female) are awarded pennants after all carnivals.
School teams
are selected after the Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals to compete
at the 13-19 Years Burdekin School Sports Carnivals. From these, teams are selected to represent
the Burdekin district at North Queensland Trials.

Awards
Sports Awards
is held early in Term 4 to celebrate and recognise the achievements of our
students sporting successes. Certificates, medallions and trophies are awarded to Age Champions,
Northern (NQ) and State (QLD) representatives, Pierre de Coubertin recipient
and Best and Fairest from all Interschool sports. The evening culminates with the announcement
of Junior and Senior Swimmer of the Year, Junior and Senior Athlete of the Year, Junior and Senior Encouragement
Awards, and Junior and Senior Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year.
Competitions
and Awards
House Champion (Swimming, Cross Country
and Athletics): The House that has accumulated the most
points for each Interhouse Carnival is awarded the House Champion Trophy. This is presented after each event (Swimming,
Cross Country, and Athletics).
Spirit Stick: The
Spirit Stick is awarded to the House that demonstrates best overall spirit through
cheering, chanting and applauding at the Interhouse Swimming and Athletics
Carnivals.
Max Tavasci: The
Max Tavasci trophy is awarded to the highest point scorer/s (maximum of 75
points) in individual events at the Interhouse Swimming Carnival.
Individual Athletics Champion: This
trophy is awarded to the highest point scorer in individual events at the
Interhouse Athletics Carnival.
Denis Donovan: A trophy named in memory of a former teacher of the school, Mr Denis
Donovan, is awarded to the House that has the best overall performance in house
skits. These are the performances by
student groups in preparation for the Interhouse Athletics and Swimming Carnivals.
Peter Moss Memorial Trophy: The Peter Moss Memorial Trophy is named in memory of a former Physical
Education teacher and is a contest between the teachers and Year 12 students in
a best of series. They participate in a series of
different sports throughout the year to determine an overall champion.
Community Shield: An
initiative by former Sports Captain, Blake Hollywood (2014), to connect our
school and build rapport with our Community Services in a best of series. The Year 12 students compete against
Community Services personnel (Fire, Ambulance and Police).
Overall Champion House: Overall
Champion House is awarded to the House with the most points accumulated from
the three annual Sporting Carnivals (Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics).
