to Year 11 Legal Studies student, Sarah McDonnell, who has recently been
accepted into YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament (QYP). This program provides
youth a unique opportunity to create real change in Queensland. Throughout this
experience, Sarah will be immersed in unique educational opportunities,
experience parliamentary operation first hand, mingle with members of
Government and Opposition and have her say in fiery debates on topical issues.
It will also provide an outstanding opportunity for personal development, be
that in leadership skills, public speaking ability or the lifelong friendships
forged throughout the transformative experience. Sarah will attend the Launch
Weekend in Brisbane in April and will then fly to Brisbane again in October for
the Residential Sitting Week. She will be involved in writing and presenting a
Bill for debate and possible amendment in the Legislative Assembly Chamber of
the Queensland Parliament about an issue of her own choice.
