Ayr SHS Interact Club networking with the Ayr Rotary Club
Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success,” and together with the guidance of the Rotary Club of Ayr, the Interact Club of Ayr State High School aims to step out into the community and make connections between high school students and community members. Our first major function was running the school’s Sweetheart’s Day Stall which aimed to promote “being an Ayr High Sweetheart” while also raising funds for the Heart Foundation which supports children with congenital heart diseases. The club managed to raise (approximately) $800. Interact also runs food stalls at numerous school sports carnivals. Each year level also selects a fundraiser day to raise funds for their chosen organisation which can include the Daniel Morcombe Foundation,

The McGrath Foundation plus many more. We conduct many different fundraisers throughout the year on a school, local and international community level. These include 40 Hr Famine, Shave for a Cure, Red Shield Appeal as well as assist at community based events such as the Sugar Rush. Interact is also very proud of two major contributions to society that have made a difference to the lives of other people. One of these is the Ayr State High School Sky Hydrant Water Filtration System which provides a clean water source to a town of 10,000 people for a decade and is situated in a third world country. The other achievement has been the raising of funds for an Ayr High student who battled cancer and received a donation to allow her to follow her career and passion. This year we are looking forward to networking with the Rotary Club and assisting with their upcoming events. We are honoured to have this opportunity and can’t wait to start making a difference in the community alongside Rotary.
